The Lehenga Choli, Softened: Pastel Heirlooms for Little Girls
Some garments are worn. Some are remembered.
The lehenga choli is the second kind. It is the twirl in the courtyard, the held-up hem on the stairs, the photograph that finds its frame on a wall twenty years later.
This season, Klistel softens it into four pastels: baby pink, ivory, powder blue and yellow. These are the colours of early morning, of rose petals, of the hour before a celebration begins.
Woven in Chanderi, finished by hand
Each lehenga choli is cut from Chanderi, a fabric that holds light the way silk holds a secret, sheer and luminous, with a glow that never shouts.
Then the hands arrive. Dabka is traced along the borders in fine metallic thread. Pearl work is placed stitch by stitch, small enough to catch the eye only when she moves. Nothing is crowded. Everything is considered.
A flare made for twirling
A child's lehenga should be judged by one test: does it fly?
Ours is cut for a full, generous flare, so it opens like a bloom when she spins and settles softly when she stops.
Lined in malmal, because comfort is luxury
Every piece is lined in soft malmal, so the embroidery stays on the outside and only gentleness touches the skin. No itching and no tugging. She forgets she is dressed up, and that is the point.
The four pastels
- Baby Pink: Gulabi: tender and classic, made for Diwali evenings
- Ivory: The Ivory Heirloom: quiet and timeless, for weddings and pujas
- Powder Blue with Dabka Work: cool and modern, for daytime ceremonies
- Yellow: Soleia: sunlit, for haldi and mehendi mornings
Styling the look
Drape a sheer dupatta loosely, then finish with a pearl choker and bracelet. Keep the hair simple, with a braid or a headband.

Frequently asked questions
What is a lehenga choli for girls?
It is a traditional three-part outfit: a flared skirt (lehenga), a fitted top (choli), and a dupatta. Klistel's versions are made for comfort as much as occasion.
Which colour should I choose for a wedding?
Ivory and baby pink are the most versatile. Powder blue suits daytime ceremonies, and yellow is lovely for haldi and mehendi.
Will the lehenga itch my daughter?
No. Every piece is lined in soft malmal, so the embellishment never touches her skin.
Is Chanderi suitable for children?
Yes. It is lightweight, breathable and gentle, which makes it a good choice for long festive days.
How should I care for dabka and pearl work?
Dry clean only. Store it folded in muslin, away from direct sunlight.
Can I customize the size or fit?
Yes. We can customize by size, colour and occasion, and we offer video consultations for sizing and styling.
